Turkey Day

Author’s Note: Still playing catch up and realized I didn’t really take any photos on Thanksgiving proper, so you’ll have to live with these other images from our trip.

IMG_8129It was decided that this year Thanksgiving would be spent in Moses Lake….weather permitting of course. So the weekend prior we packed up the kids and headed off. It seems to get easier and easier traveling with the kids. We made it to Moses Lake in nine hours this time…a new “with kids” record I think. Probably helps that we didn’t stop at Cabela’s in Boise too Smile with tongue out.

Having a whole week to spend with the family was great! Kevin’s brother Erin and his wife Jen were up with their boys (Brandon & Zach). Kevin’s sister Julie and her husband Cory came down Thanksgiving night. For about 12 hours the whole kit and kaboodle was together…..you know what that means right?

I suspect that this may be coming to a Christmas card near you soon….if you are on the folks’ card list. What an incredible bunch of lookers! It’s amazing our collective beauty did not overwhelm the camera.

The kids all had a great time together. Outside they had fun playing outside on the tricycles, swing set, and digging in the dirt. They gave each other rides in the wagons and discovered snow shovels are excellent for leaf pickup until their hands got to icy and their noses turned red.

Inside, they played Play-doh, colored, and made all sorts of art projects. Jack is totally getting a hole-punch for Christmas now. We made hand turkeys and turkey dessert cups. We assembled puzzles and read books. Plus they played with all of Grandma and Grandpa’s toys. I was impressed at how well they shared considering.

It was a fun week! I even got to see my Dad. He came up to help butcher Hogs (3 hogs & 1 deer in about 1/2 a day…we work fast) and exchange some Christmas gifts (nothing like a chance to avoid shipping costs). He came up the night before hog day and went down to the tri-cities the following afternoon to visit my Aunt and Uncle (Dad’s sister and husband) before heading home. It was sooooo great to see him!

Well before I close this one out, a few more parting shots. These are from a walk down to the neighbor house to see his tractors. No visit is complete without going to sit on Paul’s tractors.

Note: Paul was out of town but Sam (bottom right) was more than happy to escort us around Winking smile.
