An opportunity formed a few months back that we just couldn’t turn down. Kevin’s brother Erin, his wife and two boys were planning to visit Moses Lake over President’s day weekend. It just so happened that Cassie’s parents, little sister and family (including baby Noah) would be in the tri-cities for a baby shower that same weekend. Add to that the fact we still needed to pick up the hog we bought in November and get 1/2 of it to Cassie’s folks and well, we just said to count us in for a trip to Eastern Washington.
We headed out early Thursday and thankfully the road through the Blues was good. We spent all day Friday and 1/2 of Saturday in Moses Lake with Kevin’s family. Julie & fiancé Cory came down from Airway Heights so it really was a family reunion of sorts.
Kevin satisfied his craving for Chico’s pizza and Jack had lots of fun with his cousin’s. He and Zach have matching PJ’s as it turns out. We took the boys down to the neighbor’s on Friday and they enjoyed checking out their tractors and fish pond. Plus, Friday night Brandon and Jack got to help feed Grandpa’s cows. They are both very good little farmers.
Saturday afternoon we headed down to the Tri-cities and met up with Cassie’s family. Mandy was hosting a baby shower for a friend so we went to a local playground (which was appropriately named “The Playground of Dreams) and took a much needed nap before stopping of for a quick visit at Cassie’s Aunt & Uncles’ place and going out for a nice family dinner at the Ice Harbor brewery. Then we went back to the hotel to go swimming.
Turns out the pool heater was broken so only Cassie, Jack, Colin, & Mattie braved the chilly water.
Finally it was back to Idaho on Sunday. Once again the weather held and we made it home safe and sound. I think we are done with any big trips until after the new baby arrives though. Between being eight month pregnant and spending nine hours in a car with a two year old the drive got a little tedious at times. Seeing the family was more than worth it though.
