The Swing Set

For a while now we’ve been talking about getting a swing set for the backyard. Emilie will be walking soon and Jack is already a bundle of activity so it seems natural to have a way to help them burn some more energy outdoors. Problem is swing sets aren’t exactly an inexpensive purchase. Especially, if you want a good quality one. We priced out kits from home improvement stores, online, and even watched Craigslist for a used one. Finally we said, “Okay, with this year’s tax return…..”

We had a blueprint in hand and were all set to go out and purchase lumber, when, wouldn’t you know it, the neighbor offered us the old one he had from when his grandkids were small! Talk about a generous offer and a small miracle!

It may not be our “dream” swing set, but it will work for now. We got Emilie a toddler swing for her birthday so she can swing as well. Those two kids couldn’t be happier. Maybe in a few years we will get around to building the wood one we have plans for…but until then I think this one will work just fine.
