Yesterday was the first day of our big two week visit/training trip to Washington. We actually got on the road at a decent time (7am) and made it to Boise just in time for the start of Kid’s Fishing day at Cabela’s. Seeing as it was free we poked around long enough for Jack to catch his first fish.
He’s been fishing before but never actually caught anything. The first time we took him all he wanted to do was eat the worms. Next time he just wanted to jump in the lake. This time he actually caught a fish. He technique needs some work, he thinks it’s a fun game where you dangle the worm until a fish swims near then you jerk the worm up out of the water. Still, he is progressing….
Since we were on the road we opted to release his fish back into the pool rather than have smelly dead trout in the car. Then is was off to the Tri-cities to pick up or “new-to us” car courtesy of my Aunt & Uncle. It’s a ‘06 Ford Freestyle and so far I’m loving all the extra room and seats. Not to mention the gas mileage, keyless entry, and the fact it only has 22,000 miles on it. Yippee!
Finally, we headed up 395 meeting up with Kevin’s parents at the Country Store near Eltopia for some yummy ice cream and tractor sitting then cruised on to Moses Lake.
We spent the night there and let Jack and Emilie see Grandpa’s new chicks. Jack had some fun digging up carrots in the Great-Grandparent’s garden with Grandpa. He then attempted to feed the carrots to Grandpa’s cows…they seemed interested for sure. Meanwhile, Emilie enjoyed a licorice filled visit with the Great Grandparents.
After saying goodbye to Moses Lake we headed southwest into the rain and snow for a fun yet soggy week with the other set of Grandparents (Cassie’s folks) while Kevin headed up to Olympia for Bridge Inspector training.
