Warhawk Air Museum

We escaped the house this weekend. Escaped Twin for that matter. Emilie is almost six weeks old, the weather has been gorgeous, it was just time to get out and do something. We talked about going to the Boise Zoo, but we have been there several times, and though its always a hit, we wanted to try someplace new. So we decided to try the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho.

The museum feature mostly WWII planes and memorabilia, but they expanded in the past few years and now have some planes and helicopters from the Korean War and Vietnam along with a small section on NASA and Space. It reminded me of a slightly smaller version of the Pearson Air Museum in Vancouver, WA.

There was a self guided tour which involved a numbered brochure that corresponded with numbered displays. Kevin and I both would have loved to stop and read our way through, but Jack takes a more active approach to museum viewing and Emilie needed fed, so that tour is going to have to wait about 5 years or so.

Jack enjoyed pointing out all the planes both real and model alike. He also got a kick out of the LEGO space shuttle and a display in the NASA section where you stick your hands in some gloves and try to build blocks inside a bubble.

However, by a landslide his favorite part of the whole entire museum was a plaque off in one corner that had a bulldozer and a loader on it. What can I say? The kid likes construction equipment. You could be anywhere in the museum and he’d be trying to drag you over to that plaque…again. IMG_1100
