Yesterday was Jack’s last day at the Infant Care Center. With reaching the 18 month milestone he has also reached the age cutoff for the daycare. Next Tuesday he starts at Step Ahead Learning Center just down the block.
While I am excited….and a little anxious about him starting at the new place we are really going to miss the gals who have watched Jack for the last year or so. They took such good care of him! Packing up the stuff from his cubby yesterday was hard. It was a total ‘my baby is growing up’ moment…..managed to make it home before I broke down and cried. It will be strange not to take him in on Monday. The next few weeks may be a rough transition but we’ll make it through.

With the changing of daycares we decided to make another big change for Jack. No more pacifiers! He’s only been using them at nap and bedtime for the last few months and we decided it would be easier not to have to take pacifiers to the new daycare. With that train of thought we figured if the naptime pacifier was out we might as well do the nighttime one too and just get it over with.
Last night was his first night without it. It was a little rough. We did the normal bedtime routine and put him in the crib. He howled for about thirty minutes then Kevin went in calmed him down and read a few more books to him. After that he sniffled and fussed off and on for about an hour. He still wasn’t asleep when we headed to bed at 10 so I went in and got him. We sat in the rocker with puppy and blanket and rocked till he fell asleep (about 10:30pm). Then I rocked him for a little longer just to make sure he was really out. I made it to bed about 10:45pm. He slept until 4:30am, which is not unusual for him, and Kevin got up and rocked him back to sleep. He then slept until 7am. In all not to bad
He cried for about 30 minutes at naptime before conking out….hopefully bedtime is similar.
Oh, yeah and for those who want to know Jack had his 18 month WBV this week. He is 25lbs 8oz and 31.75”. He is growing and developing beautifully. He also did not cry when he got his shot…which is something that cannot be said for the 12 year old boy in the room two doors down. That kid was screaming bloody murder and kicking the wall. It took so much time for the nurse to give those shots that Dr. Trotter took Jack’s height/weight measurements (which is what the nurse normally does) so they could stay on schedule.
