HAPPY EASTER!
Everybody is still in the process of getting better. Jack, I would say is 100%, except for the arrival of those pesky eye-teeth. Kevin and I are in what I like to call the 'breakup' phase of these sinus colds. Pretty much coughing up and blowing out all sorts of nasty mucous and phlegm.
We took it nice and slow for Easter. Jack 'opened' his, and my, Easter Basket to a certain extent...he enjoyed shaking the plastic eggs as they make a nice rattle with candy in them. After flipping through his new picture book and spreading the plastic grass across the carpet (there's something that will haunt me every time I vacuum for the next month or so) he got a better idea about Easter Baskets and upended the whole thing onto the carpet and carted the basket off to the pantry so he could fill it with canned goods
Church was packed, but we managed to find a seat in a pew instead of the overflow area. Jack went up for the children's sermon and got a HUGE surprise....pigs! The Children's sermonettes for Easter seem to deal with new life every year. Last year Pastor brought in Turkens (he waited until the last minute to go to the feed store and they were out of chicks). This year he had some kids doing Hogs as a 4-H project bringing in some 6 week old piglets. Jack, being Jack, petted the piglet and laughed (I think their bristle-brush hair tickled) then tried to put his finger up the piglets nostril. The piglets should be out at the fair this fall as they are to be sold in the Junior Livestock Auction. We will have to go and see how big they've gotten by then.
After Church there was an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Jack had more fun running around the lawn than actually hunting eggs, but he did manage to pick up two. By the time we made it home everyone was bushed so we threw together a quick and simple Easter dinner and pretty much vegged in front of the TV for the rest of the day.
