Par-Tay!

It’s not every day that a young lady turns 2, so of course it must be celebrated in fashion. What a day it was!

Emilie LOVES balloons, “ballooneys” as she calls them, so we went with that for a theme of sorts. Friday night was spent by Kevin, I, and an excited-through-the-roof Jack huffing and puffing and blowing up several dozen balloons to hang from the dining room ceiling. As you can see below she loved it!  Though not shown in the video, later there was some table dancing with the balloons…it got a little wild Winking smile.

IMG_9364Her big present from the family was a tricycle all her own. Conveniently, it has a handle so if you get tired of pedaling Mom or Dad can take over driving and steering and you can just sit back and chill. Part of the day was spent at the park testing this theory out.

IMG_9434She was spoiled rotten by the extended family (Thank You all!) and is now armed with an array of new art supplies, coloring books, a new Cougar outfit, hair bows, and toys. The best part of gift opening was a comment by her very helpful big brother and gift organizer Jack.

IMG_9422IMG_9412While at age 2, Emilie does not quite ‘get’ the whole party thing her big brother Jack does. (Trust me, I would have completely overlooked the need for party hats had Jack not informed me that you have to have cone hats at birthday parties…)  So there we are opening gifts and Emilie opens a tea set from her Butcher cousins. To round out the set my sister sewed a child-sized picnic blanket and napkins. Emilie opens the package and Jack takes a look at the stack of neatly folded cloth and excitedly screams, “Oh wow! TOWELS!!!!!!”

I about died from laughter. I never knew towels made such exciting gifts. Perhaps I should get Jack some towels when his big day rolls around again.

Dinner featured pizza followed by an awesome tower of balloon cupcakes. Emilie definitely has a sweet tooth and her cupcake didn’t last long! The only downfall was that it sugared her up enough that getting her to bed took some trying…..trying that lasted till11:30pm. The girl was wired. Mom and Dad were not.

I would say she had a great day top to bottom though. Thank you to all that sent their love and birthday wishes. It is so wonderful to know how loved she is.
