Agri-Action 2013

Last night was the big night. The night Jack looks forward to all year.  The night we go to Agri-Action and see all the tractors! For merely a dollar per person (kids under 6 are free) or two cans of canned food you too can go sit in shiny new tractors a dream up news ways to blow your imaginary Lotto winnings!

IMG_8765As usual Jack had a BLAST. So much so, I found myself in the restroom scrubbing hydraulic grease off his hands after he tried to manually raise the forks on the forklift when the joysticks didn’t work.  Aside from touring all the equipment Jack was also drawn to the DVDs many vendors had which showed their equipment in action. He was on ‘farm-boy overload’ all night and literally did not stop talking about everything he was seeing. He’s making funny faces in many of the photos because he wouldn’t stop yammering on about diesel engines, choppers, and big tires long enough for me to snap a photo. The Western Waste actually guy gave Jack his business card after Jack told him, “The Garbage truck picks up the can with it’s arm and dumps garbage in the garbage truck then smashes it down with the packing panel!”  He told Jack to come back when he turns 18 and gets his CDL because “that’s a future (garbage) truck driver for sure” Smile with tongue out The kid never fails to amaze.

IMG_8763Emilie had a great time too. The nice folks at Jack’s Tire & Oil gave her a beautiful yellow balloon and she was in heaven. She carried that balloon all night saying, “boon! boon!” She enjoyed sitting in the tractors and poking the tires, but that balloon was her highlight. She also enjoyed the free Chobani yogurt samples they were giving away.

Funny moment of the night. I was kneeling on one side of an aisle spooning yogurt into Em’s mouth when another little girl about Emmy’s age wandered over. She watched us for a moment then stood next to Emilie looked at me and opened her mouth as if to say, “Well, while your at it…feed me too lady!”  Both myself and the little girl’s mom got a good laugh out of that. Oh, and Mom did take pity and get her a yogurt.

So if you can’t tell, the kids had an awesome time. Bonus for me was we convinced them to leave without a tantrum! We capped it off with some pizza for dinner and still managed to make it home in time for Wheel of Fortune.
